The Sustain!
While the smooth drive tones from this pedal are enough to make it a great buy for any guitar player, what really makes it popular is the incredible amount of sustain that you can get even at the lowest gain settings. This makes lead work a dream letting you create patterns and licks that were not possible with this sustain holding everything together.
Simple To Set Up
Like with a lot of the Hermida / Lovepedal designs simplicity is key. If the pedal takes too long to set up or dial in no one is going to want to play it. With that in mind they created a simple but versatile tone circuit that lets you dial in everything from dark rhythm tones to brighter more mix popping lead sounds. The industry standard volume and gain pedals act as you would expect for a low gain drive apart from the fact that the volume control can push your amp quite hard on its own.
MOSFET Circuit
For those that know their circuits MOSFET is a word that makes pedal heads squeal with joy. Essentially they are some of the best components to give a pedal valve amp like tonality and response without actually needing to use valves and a larger preamp circuit. It keeps things simple while producing great tones at the same time. Alfonso Hermida gained fame in the world of boutique handmade effects pedals with the release of the Mosferatu and Zendrive overdrive pedals. The Mosferatu, his original signature pedal, is revered by users for it’s thick tone and long sustain.
During the fall of 2003, the Mosferatu gained enormous popularity among guitarists worldwide. The creation of an overdrive/distortion unit that had a very, VERY, smooth sound with sustain even at the lowest settings. The Mosferatu tends to find many sweet spots around the neck.
” I wanted a tone similar to Robben Ford’s “Golden Slumbers” version from a Beatles tribute album. In order to get that tone I ended up using Mosfets in a section of the circuit. I wanted to integrate the “Mosfet” name in the name of the pedal. Since I’m a horror film fan, I recalled “Nosferatu” (vampire from the silent movie days). So it ended up being Mosferatu.”
