– Tone, the tone of our Authentic 1963 pickups is a dead ringer. For those who don’t know that phrase, it’s a complete recreation. 100% identical sonically and tonally to the original 1963 stratocaster’s that fetch tens of thousands of dollars in today’s markets. The bass is tight for a matter of speaking, not flubby. The mid range is strong and powerful, not to the sense of an overwound pickup, but that round bell curve tone that pushes tube amps. The treble frequencies are clear with just enough brightness but not too dark when they compress. The overall summary of the set would be described as a medium to a medium plus vintage pickup. Not the bright strats and certainly not dark. These have all the woody tones
– Compression, the current Alnico 5 alloy is very strong, very bright, & has quite a brittle edginess. One of the first things that is noticeable is that original magnets aren’t as strong. This is not due to demagnetizing, but it’s due to the chemical composition. 1963 stratocasters are very well known for having a very big and clean driven sound. These pickups offer you that, big, open, and driven sound. Here at Klein Pickups, when we reproduce a pickup 100%, we don’t put our own spin, our own tweaks, our own interpretations on it, nothing. We reproduce a pickup 100% the same as the original, every component being 100% identical to the original.
Now is your chance to play with the same big round fat strat tones found in Original 1963 stratocasters. We tested these pickups in multiple strats, Alder, Ash, Mahogany, Basswood, in both Maple & Rosewood necks. There was no combination that did not sound excellent.
All pickups are “Flash Potted” to avoid microphonic squeal but still retains the natural characteristics just like original pickups.
